Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer. It is unknown whether IBD patients that develop colitis-associated colorectal cancer have an increased burden of genetic risk variants associated with sporadic colorectal cancer which may contribute to their likelihood of developing the disease. This project aims to calculate and examine genetic risk scores for colorectal cancer in IBD patients with colitis-associated colorectal cancer compared to IBD patients without cancer, patients with sporadic colorectal cancer and healthy controls.
