It would be useful to be able to predict which patients are at risk of early peritoneal dialysis treatment failure so that doctors can monitor them more closely and choose the right care. In addition, identifying such patients may help them choose haemodialysis as their first treatment method thereby reducing other unnecessary procedures. A relatively recent family of statistical prediction tools is called machine (computer) learning. We will use data available in the UKRR to apply different machine learning techniques to look at survival and help predict failure of peritoneal dialysis.
