Lay summary
This study will use the information from the Our Future Health research program to accelerate the development of life-altering medicines that can improve mental health and/or treat rare diseases, diseases due to aging or an overreactive immune system. We believe the diversity of the volunteers and the size of this research program will help us develop new ideas about what causes these diseases. This will help us know which diseases to focus on first and which medicines are the most important to make. We can also use what we learn to make sure these medicines get to the people who need them faster. Many diseases we study, like Alzheimer's disease, can be caused by a combination of factors. We can research the genetic and health data together to help us find new medicines to treat these types of diseases. Similarly, we hope with the large volunteer numbers and rich health data, we can dissect complicated diseases and find new ways to categorize patients for better treatment options.
Public benefit statement
Our Future Health is celebrated for the diversity of the volunteers participating in this research program. We want to how the chance of developing a disease and how that disease looks like will be different depending on your ethnicity, culture and surroundings. This helps us make medicines that will work better for you.
