About 1 in 10 young adults suffers from a mental disorder in the UK. Understanding whether this trend also exists in children will serve to shine a light on an unknown issue and to set up special services for mental health in children and young people.

In a previous adult study, we found that the younger you are, the higher your risk of mental disorders including depression, anxiety, and stress. About one in ten young adults suffers from a common mental disorder in the UK. Understanding whether this trend also exists in children - and whether the risk in children is therefore even greater than 10% - will serve to shine a light on an unknown issue and to set up special services for mental health in children and young people.
