Public benefit statement

Health inequalities refer to differences in people’s health between specific population groups. The coronavirus pandemic has introduced many new challenges to the healthcare system in the United Kingdom, including cancellations and delays in medical appointments and planned operations. The National Health System’s waiting list has almost doubled since March 2020. Delays in diagnosis and start of treatment affect the outcomes of care. This project aims to use the WSIC data to study differences in waiting times between different population groups during the Covid-19 pandemic. The intention is to feed the findings back to the local healthcare system in Northwest London, which can be used to ensure that everyone gets equal healthcare independent of their sex, age, income level or ethnic background.
