Public benefit statement

Aims: - To define and accurately code risk predictors and outcome measures that describe long-term health outcomes and healthcare resource use relevant to children and young people using the WSIC- Discover data system infrastructure, with a specific focus on children with severe infections admitted to hospital - To identify how the presentation frequency and resource utilisation of children with severe infections compare to those of all children in NW London, both prior to admission to hospital as well as their long-term follow-up. - To investigate subsequent healthcare utilisation and long-term health outcomes in children with severe infections following discharge from hospital. - To evaluate how the implementation of UK COVID-19 response measures has impacted on the rate of severe infections in children and their management. - To study the role of ethnicity and deprivation on the presentation frequency and resource utilisation of children with fever and children with severe infections, and how UK COVID-19 response measures influenced this.
