The purpose of this study is to describe the patient pathways for obesity management at hospital and/or specialized obesity services in NWL to support findings of a wider study looking at Greater Manchester and other countries.

Based on 2017 estimates in European Union countries, obesity affects 21% of adults in the United Kingdom. According to the global burden of disease study in 2017, over 4 million people die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Real-world evidence on obesity treatment pathways and resource use is therefore of growing importance for healthcare decision making. Understanding pathways of care for these individuals in NWL will approve our understanding of best practice for these patients and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
