Public benefit statement

The study will reveal challenges with data linkage in mental health research in young people, allowing future studies to build on and improve efforts of data linkage. Effective monitoring of participants' utilisation of healthcare and mental health services over time in future studies may enable the identification and support of young people most at risk and in greatest need of mental health services. Such a longitudinal approach has the potential to provide valuable insights into patterns of health service utilisation and mental health needs among young people in NW London. This could include a better understanding of how health inequalities may impact young people's health service use and health outcomes in the future, which is essential for developing targeted interventions and services to address the needs of vulnerable populations.
