Lay summary
The main purpose of the research (funded by NIHR) is to is to provide information to enable assessment of whether the digital intervention MyWay Diabetes (known in London as Know Diabetes (KDS)) is suitable for commissioning across England.
Public benefit statement
From a patient perspective, the outcomes of the research should show whether the MWD digital platform is effective in improving diabetes control for the individual user. As outlined above, we will also interview people with diabetes from different backgrounds to gain understanding on whether the platform is easy to access/use and we will use this information to improve MWD, which could improve the user experience for existing- and new MWD users. The study places specific emphasis on usage and impact of MyWay Diabetes among minoritised communities and will provide data to enable the assessment of its suitability for adoption across the NHS within the English healthcare system. If MyWay Diabetes is scaled as a result of this finding it could provide people with diabetes access to a free highly valuable digital resource to improve their health outcomes and quality of life.
