Lay summary

This DAR form is for a new data extract. An extract was already provided in January 2024, but a new extract would enable full metrics for the 2023/24 financial year to be included, improving understanding of progress.

Public benefit statement

The project will benefit patients by:  Identifying unwarranted clinical variation between providers of care and agreeing recommendations with the ICS as to how they can improve quality to remove this variation.  Identifying best practice and promoting this across the country through the GIRFT Best Practice Library to enable services to improve their services via learning. Version 4.1 – October 2023 Page 4 of 23  Monitoring take up of the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma, and making recommendations to the ICS in order to improve take up.  Using North West London as a GIRFT exemplar site, will enable us to then work with other ICSs, allowing us to spread good practice in relation to information management as well as clinical care.  Developing an approach that can be rolled out nationally and therefore benefit patients across England in the above same ways in identifying unwarranted variation and best practice and use those to develop action plans for improvement and national benchmarks from which providers can track their progress.
