Lay summary
Our study aims to examine women’s health issues and care experiences by conducting in-depth analyses of the rich Discover-Now datasets, and findings to be published and disseminated.
Public benefit statement
Women’s health must be at the forefront of efforts that address health inequalities, though in a 2023 debate on health inequalities in North West London, the term “women” was mentioned but once. The life span of women patients in NWL has been found to be associated with deprivation status, yet there is little known on the disparities found from healthcare plans for women in NWL. Our project aims to scan for opportunities to transform women's healthcare delivery by evaluating gaps in care that could enable opportunities for early, precise diagnoses or crafting personalised treatment plans. The insights gained could lead to enhanced treatment efficacy and reduced side effects, fundamentally changing disease management. By highlighting the connection between lifestyle, environmental exposures, and health outcomes, we aim not only to in the future fill existing research gaps but also to contribute to the global body of knowledge on women’s health. Through publications and collaboration with healthcare professionals, we seek to disseminate our findings widely, advocating for evidence-based changes in care practices and policies within NWL.
