Public benefit statement
In response to rising pressures on NHS services, particularly for multimorbidity, this project aims to explore potential solutions. It will utilize the Whole System Integrated Care (WSIC) data from integrated NHS care records for the population of northwest London to better understand mental-physical multimorbidity and health service use among children and young people. This information is crucial for two main reasons. Firstly, it provides an opportunity to identify preventable multimorbidity patterns and their outcomes. Research to detect these clusters and their association with socioeconomic factors can lay the groundwork for developing interventions to prevent the development or worsening of mental health problems in younger group with physical conditions, thereby improving local population health. Furthermore, there is potential for case finding, which could aid in identifying individuals at higher risk of unplanned healthcare use, thereby facilitating targeted interventions to mitigate this risk.
