Public benefit statement
The study will provide an overview of current prevalence and characteristics of young people that present to GPs and A&Es with self-harm, and how they are accessing healthcare and support in other settings, for example how often they are being admitted to hospital in an unplanned way, whether they are accessing specialist mental health support including psychological treatment and how often they are seeing their GP within a 1-year period. This will contribute to the evidence based knowledge of the real-world patterns of healthcare usage for this group of young people at high risk of suicide.
