Public benefit statement
This project aims to establish the time points that patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease undergo surgery in the northwest London population in relation to disease duration and age at surgery. We also aim to describe and understand prescribing patterns of advanced therapies in Inflammatory bowel disease. Analysis of the data will primarily be descriptive, with the aim of establishing links between the prescribing patterns and the age at which patients receive surgery. With the addition of a multitude of newer, advanced therapies over the last two decades, we expect that patients receive surgery at a later stage in their disease course and in their life. Establishing this data will help us understand disease outcomes and risks to patients undergoing surgery.
