Lay summary
This project seeks to learn about the trends and patterns within group of patients with known kidney disease so that we can better identify individuals at high risk of over-prescribed medication.
Public benefit statement
By using this methodology, we hope to learn about the health inequalities faced by certain demographics within the region. Identifying trends and patterns will enable us to inform the NWL ICB on how to develop more cohesive, targeted approaches to avoid the impacts of polypharmacy within renal patient cohort. Better identification of individuals at high risk of polypharmacy will help tackle existing health inequalities and improve population health in the region. This project will add to the growing literature by exploring the relationships between health outcomes and polypharmacy through the lens of socioeconomic deprivation, ethnicity, gender and age for renal patients.
