Lay summary
Whether factors like age, gender, socioeconomic background, or ethnicity might influence how likely people might adhere to their ADHD treatment. I also want to see if stopping medication is linked to more serious problems.,
Public benefit statement
How growing up in challenging social or financial situations might affect mental health, focusing on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as an example. ADHD usually starts in childhood and can continue into adulthood and is characterised by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity which can make daily focus, organisation and self-regulation challenging. My research is about describing the trends in prescribing ADHD medication, particularly during times like when people with ADHD move from child to adult healthcare services.
