Lay summary
This project is aimed to see whether there are any concealed or unseen factors within the WSIC data base which can help identify factors, or more likely clusters of factors, contributing higher risk to some individuals of developing diabetic retinopathy.
Public benefit statement
1.Have advanced evidence to inform commissioners on redesign of service. 2. Those at higher risk of diabetic retinopathy to have more frequent screening invitations 3. Those at lower risk of diabetic retinopathy to have invitation frequency which is evidenced rather than generic 4. Use findings, if analysis demonstrates health improvement, to expand work programs to risk of disease complications of other organs as a result of diabetes 5. Expand work program to evaluate identification of risk factors and risk clusters in other disease entities to 6. Improve access by freeing up clinical services times away from a generic frequency of surveillance and onto a tailored evidenced frequency
