Lay summary
The results of this study’ll allow us to identify patient groups who will benefit the most clinically, so that targeting treatment to these groups result in the largest reduction in healthcare burden and more equitable health outcomes for the population.
Public benefit statement
The number of patients living with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease (CVD) has increased substantially in recent years. The health impacts, both CVD-specific and broader health impacts, are likely to vary substantially across the large CVD population according to a range of factors including risk factors (demographic, physiological and behavioural) and comorbidities. The health trajectories, hence potential impacts, of therapeutics vary within populations more than ever, and cannot be comprehensively captured through trials. Health systems generally do not account for these big variations in unmet health need.
