Obesity is a complex condition linked to T2D, CVD, and other comorbidities. This study assesses NWL weight management service data and aims to optimize care pathways, improve outcomes, reduce health inequalities, and enhance resource use efficiency.
Public benefit statement
The outcomes of this project will (i) establish the availability in Discover of good quality data on symptoms, referrals and interventions on chronic weight management service (WMS) provision and, if stage (i) is deemed successful, the project will progress to (ii) a full study to characterise WMS provision to adults in North West London (NWL). The evaluations in this project will include clinical outcomes, resource use and pathways to referral. Evidence from this project will be feedback into NWL and help improve resource utilisation by identifying possible inefficiencies in the system. As such patients will receive more effective care, leading to better health outcomes, improved quality of life, reduced health inequalities and reduced long-term health issues.
