Lay summary
This data will allow estimates to be made regarding the costs and impact of initiating glucose monitoring to be made, facilitating business cases for implementation of a remote glucose monitoring solution.
Public benefit statement
People with diabetes who check their glucose levels regularly will know if they have high blood sugar during their cancer treatment. However, they may find it hard to get specialist advice quickly, and their cancer and diabetes teams might not communicate well. Those who don’t check their glucose levels, including those only at risk of diabetes may not know their blood sugar is high until they feel unwell. High glucose levels can lead to dehydration or infection, also increasing the risk of hospital admission.
