Lay summary
JSNAs assess population health needs to guide local planning. Brent uses WSIC data to identify inequalities, track trends, and support JSNAs such as Mental Health, Cancer and Housing. Future work includes linking housing data with WSIC via UPRN.
Public benefit statement
An understanding of health needs and possible inequalities in a population allow local authorities to plan more effectively. This results in a more efficient allocation of resources, which directly benefits the population. The additional benefit of this request, which is related to a previous request, is that it will expand our understanding of Brent residents in contact with housing services. The information we currently have about the health of these residents is based on limited, self-reported data collected during contact with housing services. The wealth of information from general practice and hospitals that is contained in WSIC will expand our understanding greatly.
