Lay summary
The aim of our study is to evaluate how many people who reported that they had anxiety and/or depression in Our Future Health also have a record of anxiety and/or depression in their hospital records. Our Future health is a new study that aims to recruit 5 million adults and monitor their health over time. There are currently no published research articles about the mental health of the participants. We therefore aim to publish details on how many people report anxiety and/or depression within Our Future Health and how well these self-reported diagnoses are supported by data from their hospital records, their results from questionnaires designed to identify people who may have anxiety or depression, and medications they report taking.
Public benefit statement
Mental health is currently a research priority for the government. Our study aims to provide detail on the number of people with anxiety and depression present within Our Future Health. We will also compare the number of people with anxiety and depression between men and women, and different age and ethnic groups. This will help the government and NHS identify groups of people that may require targeted extra support to manage their anxiety and depression.
