Lay summary

Research active organisations to deliver better patient care and that patients in those organisations have better outcomes.

Public benefit statement

We need to attract high quality research projects to NW London to ensure that our patients are offered a wide range of research opportunities as there is evidence to show that research active organisations deliver better patient care and that patients in those organisations have better outcomes. To do this we need to demonstrate a track record of effective research delivery and key to this is robust and data driven feasibility underpinning decisions on where to place studies. We will a) use the dataset to provide anonymised feasibility to work with our partners to choose appropriate settings for research and to develop and refine appropriate recruitment plans for these projects. We have been tasked by Department of Health to place research where there is population need and we will b) use the data to demonstrate to research leaders and funders that NW London has an ethnically diverse population with a high disease burden and areas of high deprivation so that they will want to open their projects here. Our staff are embedded in partner organisations across NW London and work on behalf of the whole region.
