Breast Cancer Screening Dashboard
Description
The NHS breast screening coverage target (for women aged 50–70) is set at a minimum acceptable level of 70% and an achievable level of 80%. Coverage measures the percentage of eligible women screened within the last three years, with national efforts aiming for 80% to ensure early detection and therefore enhance the likelihood of long-term survival. To do this, we need to significantly focus on reducing cancer inequalities by making care more possible, more focused on what local populations need, and by eradicating structural inequality within the cancer pathway. This population health tool was initiated and developed through partnership working between the NWL IB team and RM Partners Cancer Alliance (using WSIC data). Together we have a joint ambition of providing equitable cancer care for all our residents. This suite of tools has been developed to support NWL PCNs all practices, and the ICS review their real time breast screening data at borough, PCN and Practice level. The dashboard considers NWL GP registered individuals aged 50 – 71 who have undergone breast cancer screening within the past 3 years*; and the population demographics of the screened vs not screened cohorts.
