Enquiries

Registered Users can submit enquiries about any Dataset & BioSample in the Gateway directly to the Data Custodians who are responsible for them.

A Registered User is someone who has signed into the Gateway using one of the sign-in methods provided. Signing into the Gateway for the first time automatically creates an account on the Gateway, which can then be used to prepopulate enquiries.

Registered Users can send general free-text queries to a Data Custodian. Users can also submit specific feasibility enquiries about one or more Datasets & BioSamples within the Gateway directly to Data Custodians.

Data Access Requests

The Gateway also provides an optional, comprehensive and cost-free Data Access Request Management solution for Data Custodians. Not all Data Custodians will have a Data Access Request form enabled on the Gateway.

How do I know if I can submit a Data Access Request via the Gateway?

On all Dataset & BioSample pages, you will see a ‘Start a Data Access Request’:

When clicked, you will either be presented with a pop-up message outlining that the Data Custodian has not enabled a Data Access Request form. This message will also contain a link to the Access Information within the Dataset & BioSample metadata to find out how to proceed further:

Submitting Data Access Requests via the Gateway enables:

• Transparent updates about the status of your Data Access Requests.
• Streamlined communication with Data Custodians about your application.
• A simple, web-based interface for drafting and managing applications. The new ‘My Data Access Requests’ button on the Gateway homepage will take you to your personal application dashboard.
